La Crescenta Avenue Rehab Project Completed, According to City of Glendale

The City of Glendale announced the completion of the La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project, which it states is a comprehensive corridor improvement effort that concluded on Aug.3. The project focused on traffic safety and mobility improvements for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. To mark this milestone, the City will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 3 at CV Church.

According to the City, the project resurfaced La Crescenta Avenue and introduced a new roadway configuration, a center two-way turn lane, and bike lanes. Safety improvements include a new traffic signal at Oakmont View Drive, a signalized bicycle crossing near Fremont Elementary School, a signalized pedestrian crossing at Piedmont Avenue, and creative crosswalks at Shirlyjean Street, Roselawn Avenue, Oakmont View Drive and Piedmont Avenue.

Additional work included intersection realignments to improve pedestrian safety and new fiber optic infrastructure to better coordinate traffic signals along the corridor. The project also upgraded sewer capacity and added bio-retention facilities to capture and treat stormwater.

“Projects like La Crescenta Avenue give us an opportunity to look at the corridor as a whole and make changes that help people move through the area more safely and predictably,” said Mayor Ardy Kassakhian. “With each project, we listen to what residents are telling us, learn from that feedback and build on our work to make the next project better. That feedback is an important part of how we continue improving our streets and neighborhoods.”

The community is invited to celebrate the completion of the project at the upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony.
