Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants and doing some watering of new trees. Note the earlier times to avoid the heat.
Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Photography of Johanna Turner on Exhibit
An exhibit of wildlife photographer Johanna Turner opens on Aug. 11 at Patagonia in Pasadena. A reception is held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibition features images captured by Turner at the Rosemont Preserve and other properties overseen by the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy. Turner will talk about how citizen scientists are using animal tracking and camera trapping to help protect mountain lions and other wildlife living in fragmented areas of open space in Pasadena and surrounding areas.
Complimentary food and beverage will be served.
Patagonia Pasadena is located at 47 N. Fair Oaks Ave. The exhibit will be on display in the store Aug. 11-Sept. 12.

 

Glendale Seeking Qualified Applicants for Pilot Tech Accelerator Program
The Glendale Economic Development Division has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking qualified applicants for the operation and management of a Tech Accelerator Pilot Program. The submission deadline is Thursday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.
The goal of the Tech Accelerator Pilot Program is to showcase Glendale’s start-up community and provide emerging companies with the tools and support needed to succeed and thrive in Glendale.

Tip-A-Cop Event Planned
On Friday, Aug. 17 a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser to benefit the Special Olympics of So Cal will be held at Hill Street Café. From 9 a.m. to noon, stop by Hill Street Café and enjoy a meal served by members of the sheriff’s department. All “tips” are tax deductible and directly benefit the Special Olympic Tri-Valley athletes.
Hill Street Café is located at 1004 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada.
