As America prepares for its 250th anniversary, CV Weekly will be working with the Daughters of the American Revolution – Don José Verdugo Chapter to gather information on those recognized by DAR as American patriots.
Loy left France because of religious upheaval there. He migrated to Germany then came to America as a young man. He married Margaret Lambert of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
When the Revolutionary War broke out he enlisted as a private in the Continental Army serving in Capt. Abraham Dehuff’s Company of the Pennsylvania Battalion of Musquetry, commanded by Samuel Atlee, Esqr. Loy and some other men of the same company were reported as missing. They eventually appeared safe and their reason for missing was not known.
The town of Loysville was named after Loy to honor him as he built a church and many other buildings to establish the town.
His proud descendant is Barbara Jean (Loy) Rogers.
