Male Arrested for Vehicle Theft

On June 11 at approximately 10 p.m., a patrol officer located a stolen vehicle driving in the area of San Fernando Road and Harvard Street. Once additional patrol officers arrived in the area to assist, a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as 36-year-old Francisco Ruiz (transient), was detained without incident. A search of Ruiz revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine, a methamphetamine pipe and a pair of pliers that had been filed down. Officers discovered that there was no key for the vehicle and that they could start the vehicle using the filed down pair of pliers that were recovered from Ruiz.

Ruiz stated he had borrowed the vehicle from his friend but could not provide a phone number or any way of contacting this friend. Ruiz was arrested and booked for possession of illegal drugs, vehicle theft and possession of burglary tools. Ruiz was also found to have two separate outstanding warrants for vehicle theft along with a warrant for grand theft.

Pair Arrested for Illegal Drug Sales, Identity Theft and Possession of a Loaded Firearm

On June 11 at approximately 7:20 p.m., officers from the Glendale Police Department’s Special Enforcement Detail were patrolling the parking lot of a motel located on the 1300 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard when they observed a male seated in a vehicle and a large dog walking near the vehicle that was not restrained, a violation of the Glendale Municipal Code.

The male, later identified as 46-year-old Joseph Dagan of Agoura Hills, was contacted regarding the violation. A records check of Dagan revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant. During a search of Dagan, officers located heroin, a methamphetamine pipe and approximately $1,400 in cash. While speaking with Dagan, a female, later identified as 27-year-old Maria Delatorre of Van Nuys, came out of the motel and went to a vehicle parked next to Dagan’s vehicle. It was discovered that Delatorre had been staying at the motel with Dagan for over a week. Upon contacting Delatorre, she provided officers with a fake ID card. It was discovered that Delatorre had multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest.

During a consent search of Dagan’s vehicle, officers located multiple ID cards and bank cards belonging to other people. During a consent search of Delatorre’s vehicle, officers located methamphetamine along with an ID card, ATM cards, DMV paperwork, fraudulent checks and a social security card belonging to other people.

During a consent search of Delatorre and Dagan’s motel room, officers located a large amount of methamphetamine, a loaded handgun with no serial number and a silencer attached to it, a box containing all of the parts needed to assemble a handgun, a digital scale, an embossing machine, a printer, a laptop, numerous boxes filled with other people’s personal identifying information and stolen mail along with a fake United States Postal Service uniform and numerous broken locks that were stamped with “U.S. Mail.”

Dagan and Delatorre were subsequently arrested and booked for multiple charges including being convicted felons in possession of a firearm, possession of illegal drugs for sale and identity theft.

Male Arrested Pushing a Stolen ATV in Glendale

On June 9 at approximately 10:23 a.m., a Glendale patrol officer was driving in the area of Glenoaks Boulevard and Highland Avenue when they observed a male, later identified as 34-year-old Devonte Brooks (transient), pushing a four-wheel “quad” ATV eastbound on the south sidewalk of Glenoaks Boulevard.

The officer contacted Brooks and asked him what was wrong with the quad and Brooks told him the quad didn’t work. Brooks went on to say that he bought the quad the previous night but had no paperwork for it; he couldn’t say from whom he bought it or from where he bought it.

Further investigation revealed the quad had actually been stolen from a repair shop in Glendale the night before. Brooks was arrested and booked for possession of a stolen vehicle. The ATV was recovered and returned to the registered owner.

Pair Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Identity Theft

On June 8 at approximately 4 p.m., a Glendale K-9 officer was on patrol and located an occupied stolen vehicle that had been taken during a robbery driving in the area of Central Avenue and Palmer Avenue. Multiple officers responded to assist and the vehicle was stopped. Both occupants of the vehicle, 23-year-old Destiny Garcia and 26-year-old Moses Sanchez of Los Angeles, were detained. 

Sanchez was found to be in possession of numerous identification cards and credit cards belonging to other people. During a search of the vehicle, officers located methamphetamine, a large hunting style knife and an additional credit card belonging to someone else. 

Garcia and Sanchez were arrested and booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and identity theft. Sanchez was additionally charged for possessing methamphetamine.

Male Arrested for Possession of Illegal Drugs for Sale

On June 7 at approximately 4:15 a.m., a patrol officer contacted a male, later identified as 50-year-old Younger Bonnot of Glassell Park, who appeared to be working on his parked car in a motel parking lot on the 1500 block of East Colorado Street.

The officer asked Bonnot if the vehicle was his and Bonnot stated it was. A records check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed the registration had been expired for over two years, however; the vehicle’s rear license plate had a false 2021 registration tab attached to it. While speaking with Bonnot, the officer also noticed a methamphetamine pipe in plain view near the center console of Bonnot’s vehicle. The officer also discovered that Bonnot was on probation for a narcotics-related offense and that he had an outstanding warrant for displaying a false registration tab on a vehicle.

During a search of Bonnot’s vehicle, officers located multiple baggies of methamphetamine, a digital scale, methamphetamine pipes and empty plastic baggies. Bonnot was arrested and booked for multiple charges including possession of illegal drugs for sale, displaying a false registration tab on his vehicle and for violating the terms of his probation.
