Rosemont Preserve Tour with Jim Adams
Discover nature’s medicine cabinet in your backyard and enjoy a leisurely morning stroll. All are invited to the Rosemont Preserve on Saturday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a program about using Native American healing in daily living. Associate professor of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at USC, Dr. James Adams has studied healing with the Chumash Indians, and is an expert on herbal remedies, antioxidants and human drug metabolism. He is the co-author of “Healing with Medicinal Plants of the West.”
This event is free to the public, all ages, no reservations required. Sturdy shoes, long pants and a hat are recommended, as are water and sunscreen. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta, and then walk north two blocks to enter the Rosemont Preserve.

EBT Suspended
Due to a change in vendor operations, the state’s Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system will not be available for cardholders to make cash withdrawals or food purchases from 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 through 11:01 p.m. on Sunday, June 24.
DPSS is strongly urging EBT cardholders to withdraw the funds needed to purchase food prior to the 24-hour shutdown period to ensure that benefits are issued and made available to those who need it. DPSS customers use the state-issued card to receive CalFresh food assistance and cash benefits. For many in the county, CalFresh serves as the first line of defense against food insecurity.
For additional information, DPSS customers are urged to call its Customer Service Center at (866) 613-3777.
