June 1

400 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a woman reported placing her purse in the shopping cart while she was shopping. She reportedly turned away from the cart for a moment to get an item. When she looked back at the cart she noticed her purse was open and her wallet and phone were missing. The victim noticed a female nearby, described as Hispanic, 30-to-40 years old, 5’2” tall with long, straight black hair. At the time she was wearing a black unzipped jacket, white shirt and jeans. The victim asked her if she had taken her wallet and phone; the woman reportedly indicated that she did not speak English and hurried out of the store. She may have left in a white Acura sedan.

The theft occurred at 1:30 p.m.

 

May 27

4300 block of Fairlawn Drive in La Cañada, a driver parked at the location and placed his single vehicle key on top of the front passenger tire before leaving to participate in a Memorial Day Torch Run. When he returned he found the key was missing from the tire and his wallet was missing from inside the vehicle. The vehicle burglary occurred between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

2400 block of Los Amigos Street in La Crescenta, a vehicle was vandalized while parked in front of a home. It appeared person/persons deliberately shattered the front windshield of the vehicle with a rock as well as the roof of the car and rear windshield.

The vandalism occurred overnight.

 

May 26

5100 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta, items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.

600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, deputies responded to a burglar alarm call at a store. When they arrived they saw the front glass window had been shattered. Once inside they found a glass storage case located in the store had also been shattered. Several items were reported missing. Surveillance footage revealed a man, described as a white adult, kneel down to break the lower portion of the front window of the store with a blunt object. The male suspect entered the building with a large black duffle bag and walked to the glass storage case. He was wearing a tan woman’s stocking over his face at the time, concealing his identity.

The burglary occurred at 11:49 p.m.

 

May 24

900 block of Town Center Drive in La Cañada, an employee was conducting a routine walk to check the electronics department. She found a case unlocked and open. Surveillance footage revealed a suspect, described as a white male wearing a gray short sleeve T-shirt, blue pants and gray shoes, entering the store. The suspect walked into the electronics department, reached into his pocket and took out a device used to remove security locks from cases. He attempted to remove the security lock from a case containing a laptop but was unable to do so. He then went to an area that displayed headphones. Once again he used the device and this time was able to open the security case. He took the headphones, hid them in his clothing and exited the store without attempting to pay.

The theft occurred at 12:20 p.m.
