May 24

900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, an employee reported that a man, described as a black male adult wearing an olive green cap, light green hoodie, beige pants and white sneakers, entered the store and stole two “Instacart scanners” belonging to the store. 

The surveillance footage revealed the suspect entering the store through the main entrance, he then entered the area designated for employees only and was seen on camera walking around the area. It was not clear at the time if he took anything. He then exited that area and walked toward an unstaffed cash register where he was seen looking at a magazine. The suspect then put the magazine down, reached over the register counter, grabbed two Instacart scanners, placed them in his hoodie pocket and exited the store. The Instacart scanners are used daily to complete Instacart order for customers. The informant reported that another store in Pasadena reported a similar theft involving the apparent same suspect. The theft occurred at  9 p.m.

2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, vehicle video footage reveal a silver four-door sedan entering a parking lot. The vehicle reversed into a parking stall, then pulled forward to the right of the parked vehicles. The driver then reversed and accelerated his vehicle into a Toyota Camry. The suspect vehicle briefly pulled forward and reversed again, striking the Camry a second time. 

The vehicle then exited the lot. The vandalism occurred between 9 p.m. and 9:40 p.m.

May 22

Angeles Crest Highway in Angeles National Forest, a person reported hearing someone outside his business. He heard two loud bangs as if someone was attempting to kick in the front door. He went to investigate and reportedly saw two suspects. Suspect No. 1 was described as a male Hispanic standing by the front door and Suspect No. 2 was described as a male Hispanic, standing in front of a boarded up front window. He sprayed bear spray through the front previously broken window of the front door to scare off the suspects. Both suspects fled the area. They appeared to get into a brown older model Grand Cherokee  Jeep. 

The attempted burglary occurred at 2:09 a.m.

May 21

5000 block of Pine Cone Road in La Crescenta, a resident returned home, entered his residence and attempted to turn on the hallway lights. They did not turn on. He then noticed that rooms had been ransacked. He went to the home’s breaker panel and restored power. He found that glass panels on the garage door had been shattered. 

Several items were stolen from his home between 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
