The offices of CV Weekly will be closed on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day.
CVCA Meets Tonight
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting tonight, Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting will include discussion on local issues as well as an opportunity for foothill area residents to bring their own concerns. Community Movie Night
The Balcony of LA is hosting a free movie night in CV Park on Saturday, May 28. Balcony of LA will be screening Pixar’s “Onward” about two brothers on an epic quest through a magical world to find their father. A taco truck will be on-site. Tacos start serving at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at 8 p.m. This is a family-friendly event.
CV Park is located at 3901 Dunsmore Ave. directly behind the dog park.
Bird of the Rosemont Preserve with Rachel-Ann Arias
On Saturday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the community is invited to learn about the birds of the Rosemont Preserve. Participants will watch for, listen to, and search for signs of springtime birds. Binoculars are recommended! Docent Rachel-Ann Arias will be demonstrating how to use the Merlin Bird app to identify birds during a morning stroll through the preserve. If able, please download the free app in advance at https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/download/ and be sure to get the “US: West Coast” bird pack.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages. Space is limited; those who plan to attend can RSVP to rosemontfriends@gmail.com. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. Please park at Two Strike Park at 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those with mobility issues who require a closer parking spot can contact the Friends of the Rosemont Preserve at rosemontfriends@gmail.com. Please wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
Fiesta Days Festivities
The La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Fiesta Days celebration. The three-day event includes live music, movies, fireworks and more. To see everything planned, visit https://www.lacanadaflintridge.com/.
Blood Drive Planned
On Tuesday, June 21 the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station is hosting a blood drive with Huntington Hospital. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No appointment necessary; the community is encouraged to just stop by and donate. Those who do will receive a Baskin Robbins gift card.
