New Captain at Crescenta Valley Station

Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station has a new captain. It was announced Wednesday that Lt. Todd Deeds will fill the position of captain at the station.

The position was previously held by former Captain Chris Blasnek, who was recently promoted to commander and was transferred to the South Patrol Division. Blasnek served as CV captain from April 2, 2017 to mid-January when he was promoted. Since his transfer Lt. Mark Slater served as interim captain.

Deeds is currently assigned to East Los Angeles Station. He will begin his duties at the CV Station on Sunday.

The CV Town Council, the City of La Cañada Flintridge and the office of the LA County Supervisor were part of the captain interviewing process.

Harry Leon of the CV Town Council said Deeds worked with the CV Sheriff’s Station personnel during the Station Fire in 2009 and the following floods in 2010.

“We are happy we found a captain who knows the area and is community oriented,” Leon said. “We are looking forward to working with him.”

“I really look forward to working with Captain Deeds,” said Mark Alexander of the City of LCF. “I think he will be a great fit with our community and steward of our CV Sheriff’s Station.”

Representatives from Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s office added, “Our office is looking forward to working with the new captain to engage with the community in our mutual effort to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness,” stated Tony Bell, spokesman for Supervisor Barger’s office.
