U Matter Luxury Resort in the 3000 block of Frances Avenue has been a concern for local residents since it proposed to open a few years ago. After many community meetings the concerns focused on the lack of transparency and clarification by those who owned the business. From construction to operations, residents worked constantly to get information regarding the facility.
Recently though a “Summons-Eviction” notice was put on the front gate of the property. CVW contacted the attorney listed on the legal document; however, “no comment” was issued because the action is still in “litigation.”
Los Angeles County offices have been following the progress of the business since residents presented their concerns. But the business had been following all permit rules and regulations with only a few issues that had to be overseen by the County.
According to the County’s Land Use Regulation Division, the last update received [about a week ago] was that the owner of the property – not the business owner – was in the process of eviction.
“Our inspection last week disclosed no activity at the site,” reported a representative of the County’s Land Use Regulation Division. The property owner had submitted an application for a converted garage and a new carport; however, it appears those permits will be withdrawn.
“We will continue to monitor this site on a monthly basis and will continue to be in communication with the property owner to ensure he obtains the proper permits to convert the garage back to a garage,” stated a Land Use Regulation Division representative.
