LA County Updates Its COVID-19 Numbers

As of May 22, Los Angeles County Public Health has confirmed 35 new deaths due to COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths in LA County to 2,049.

Local deaths as of May 20 include 71 deaths reported in Glendale, five deaths in La Cañada Flintridge, 10 in Eagle Rock, zero reported in Shadow Hills, 15 deaths in Sunland and eight in Tujunga. In the unincorporated areas of LA County, five deaths were reported in Altadena and one death in La Crescenta/Montrose.

There were 1,072 new cases reported as of May 22 of positive COVID-19 bringing the total to 43,052 in LA County. This number includes 886 cases in Glendale, 48 cases in La Cañada Flintridge, 151 in Eagle Rock, 10 in Shadow Hills, 126 in Sunland and Tujunga has 107 cases reported. In the unincorporated areas of LA County Altadena has reported 132 cases and La Crescenta/Montrose has reported 26 cases.

As of May 21, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital reported three patients are currently hospitalized confirmed with COVID-19, 95 confirmed COVID-19 patients have been sent home and 35 have been transferred. There are 59 patients with a negative COVID-19 test currently hospitalized, 863 have been sent home and nine have been transferred. There are 21 patients with pending COVID-19 tests currently hospitalized and ten have been sent home.
