Memorial Day Virtual Commemoration
Normally on the last Monday of May each year at 8 a.m. at Two Strike Park in La Crescenta the American Legion Post 288 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1614 of La Crescenta would conduct a Memorial Day commemoration. It was for the Crescenta Valley community to honor and mourn the military personnel from the area who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
This year, though, due to the novel coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19) and on the orders from the State of California and local authorities to impose restrictions on conducting public events and gatherings the American Legion Post 288 and VFW Post 1614 have produced an online version of a
Memorial Day commemoration 2020. The video combines photos and videos from commemorations over the past 10 years with online appearances by Legion and VFW members from the community.

Sunland-Tujunga Cancels 4th of July Parade
With deepest regrets, the Sunland-Tujunga Rotary Club announced the cancellation of the 2020 Sunland-Tujunga 4th of July Parade.
The Sunland-Tujunga Rotary Club has put on this parade since the early
1980s. It is the largest community event, drawing several thousand spectators along the one-and-a-quarter mile-long parade route. However, the safety of the community is the first priority of the Sunland-Tujunga Rotary Club. In this time of social distancing to minimize the spread of the virus and reduce the occurrences of COVID-19, the decision was made that it is not safe to be conducting a community event such as the parade.
