2800 block of Altura Avenue in La Crescenta, a man reported that the rear license plate of his vehicle was stolen. He stated he was not home at the time of the theft; however, there was a witness who reported seeing a white Toyota Prius stop in front of a nearby driveway behind the victim’s vehicle. The witness reported seeing a man, described as Hispanic about 17 to 18 years old wearing a white hooded sweater, exit the vehicle. He had a drill gun in his hand and walked to the back of the victim’s vehicle and began to remove the license plate. After he removed the plate, he hurried to his vehicle and fled the area.
The theft occurred at 6:51 p.m.
May 7
1900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, a man reported using a locker in the men’s locker room at the location. He secured his property with a master lock and later returned to get his property. He then went to a grocery store and realized his credit cards and cash from his wallet were missing. He was notified that a transaction on his personal credit card had been made at around noon. Another charge was made.
The theft occurred between 9:15 a.m. and 10:55 a.m.
May 3
Fairmount and Briggs avenues in La Crescenta, a mailbox had its lock punched through. It is not known what mail was missing.
The vandalism occurred between May 3 and May 5.
600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, a man reported that he believed he accidentally dropped his wallet before leaving a gas station. Shortly after he left the gas station he received a call from his bank and learned that unauthorized charges had occurred on his credit card. The unauthorized charge was made at the Shell gas station at the 4500 block of Angeles Crest Highway.
The theft occurred at 5 p.m.
May 1
2700 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a business owner reported finding numerous one-gallon cans of paint on the ground directly behind the business. Surveillance footage revealed a white Porsche parked behind the business and a female, who at the time was wearing a pink shirt and black pants, exited the vehicle. She opened the trunk of the car and unloaded about 10 cans of used paint, placed them on the ground against the rear wall of the business, got back into her car and drove away. After an investigation it was found the car was registered to a residence in Sunland. It was not known at press time if the owner of the vehicle was the individual who committed the crime of illegally dumping hazardous materials; the investigation is ongoing.
The incident occurred at 2:37 p.m.
Eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway and Angeles Crest Highway, a woman reported that she was merging onto the eastbound 210 Freeway at Pennsylvania Avenue and came “slightly” close to the “suspect’s” vehicle. She reportedly performed this maneuver in an attempt to avoid a semi-truck that was also entering the freeway alongside her. The victim stated that the suspect abruptly applied his brakes in what appeared to be a “brake check” maneuver. She believed the suspect was upset thinking she had cut him off in traffic. The victim reported the suspect’s vehicle followed her to the eastbound off-ramp at Angeles Crest Highway, where she exited.
The suspect pulled into the lane adjacent to hers and displayed a black semi-automatic pistol in his left hand, held across his body toward his right shoulder and pointed away from her. She could see the butt of the firearm. Both drivers had their windows closed but the suspect was yelling at her while holding the firearm. She drove onto the Crest and onto Foothill Boulevard then turned onto Chevy Chase. The suspect turned onto Foothill Boulevard and continued driving eastbound.
The suspect is described as a white adult male, about 30 to 50 years old, and was driving a white Volkswagen.
