Geyser of Water on Ocean View

By Mary O’KEEFE

A fire service blow of a fire hydrant occurred about 2 p.m. in the 4300 block of Ocean View Boulevard on Wednesday causing a geyser of water to shoot into the air and street. A fire service blow is when the hydrant breaks off at its base or experiences a valve failure, according to a Crescenta Valley Water District spokeswoman. Wednesday’s blow resulted in the fire hydrant being propelled north, across a driveway.

CVWD crews responded and quickly shut off the “valves;” however, some customers in the Community and Prospect avenues/Cloud and Ramsdell avenues reported low water pressure. As of press time, crews were working on the incident, according to a CVWD spokeswoman.
