Two Arrested for Speed Contest

On April 6, a GPD officer observed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Glenoaks Boulevard. The officer observed the vehicles trying to get ahead of one another in what appeared to be a speed contest reaching speeds estimated to be over 65 MPH.
The officer conducted an enforcement stop on both of the vehicles.
The drivers, 31-year-old Vage Kirakosyan of Glendale and 24-year-old Sara Shamlyan of Panorama City, were subsequently arrested for “illegal speed contest” and both of their vehicles were impounded.
While the roads may be less crowded with cars during this uncertain time, the speed limits remain in effect. Due to increased pedestrian activity, it is important drivers stay vigilant of  surroundings.
GPD officers will continue to proactively patrol the city, respond to calls for service and serve the community.
Help keep Glendale safe by reporting suspicious activity to 9-1-1 if it is an emergency, or call (818) 548-4911 if it is a non-emergency.
