April 1
5300 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta, a floor safe, cash, computers, jewelry and cameras were stolen from a home. A resident reported returning home after work to find his front door still locked however the interior of his home had been ransacked. After an investigation it was discovered the rear patio glass door had been smashed. The burglary occurred between 1 p.m. and 9:20 p.m.

3000 block of Markridge Road in La Crescenta, cash, a purse, laptop computer and sunglasses were stolen from a home. The resident reported that she had left to drive her son to school. When she returned she found the rear glass sliding door was open. It was closed when she had left the home. The incident occurred between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

4700 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta, jewelry and cash were stolen from a home. The resident reported he had left to run errands, when he returned he noticed the side gate to his home was open. It was closed when he initially left his home.  The rear glass door of his home had been smashed and several rooms had been ransacked sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.


March 29
4600 block of La Crescenta Avenue in La Crescenta, a stove and dishwasher was stolen from a home that was under renovation. The appliances had recently been installed sometime overnight.


March 27
1900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge, a parking lot attendant at Crescenta Cañada YMCA reported, while walking through the parking lot he noticed a vehicle parked in the permit employee zone without a permit. He began to fill out a warning slip for the vehicle, when the vehicle’s owner approached him. Using profanity he asked the employee what he was doing. The man began to explain the warning ticket. He noted the man had a young child with him at the time of confrontation. The employee was standing in front of the man’s vehicle while he was trying to explain parking policy. While the young child was standing near the passenger side of the vehicle, with the door open, the man got into the vehicle and drove toward the employee striking him with the car. The employee fell onto the hood of the vehicle. The man then exited and grabbed the employee’s clipboard.  The Y manager intervened and convinced the man to return the clipboard. The man and child left the parking lot. A witness said he had video taped the incident. Deputies were able via the videotape to identify the man and his vehicle. Deputies went to the 54-year-old La Cañada man’s residence and arrested him for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment. The incident occurred at 4:15 p.m.
