- Due to a recent influx of people using the parks and hikers using multi-use trails and natural areas, several trails are now closed through April 19.
“Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with guidance from state and local health officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Los Angeles County Parks is temporarily closing the County multi-use trail system,” according to a statement by Dept. of Parks and Recreation. The list of closures include La Cañada Open Space Trail, Altadena Crest Trail Connector, Eaton Canyon, Altadena Crest Access Trail, as well as many others. In addition, all play and sports amenities are closed until further notice. This includes but is not limited to playgrounds, fitness equipment areas, basketball courts, baseball/soccer/multi-use fields and skate parks.
LA County golf courses are also closed until further notice; parks with outdoor-only facilities will be staffed from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is limited restroom availability from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

- As of March 23, the following public information is a high-level summary of events being managed by the Los Angeles County Emergency Operations Center tasked with the emergency response and coordination of countywide resources to address the COVID-19 disaster. 80 of the 88 cities – 91% – in Los Angeles County have proclaimed a local emergency. Los Angeles County is still providing essential services, but County buildings remain closed to the public.
- The Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Health is actively monitoring the number of COVID-19 cases reported throughout the County. In Los Angeles County (excluding Long Beach & Pasadena) there have been 635 cases of COVID-19 and 10 deaths. In the City of Long Beach, there have been 21 reported cases and one death and in the City of Pasadena, there have been six cases and no deaths.
