Sagebrush Meeting Planned
A town hall meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Crescenta Valley High School auditorium to discuss the potential transfer of territory affecting La Cañada residents attending the Glendale Unified School District.
Representatives of La Cañada Unified School District and Glendale Unified School District will be available to answer questions.
In June 2013 the La Cañada City Council adopted a resolution in support of the territory transfer of the area known as Sagebrush. Schools affected by the proposed transfer include Mountain Avenue Elementary School, Rosemont Middle School, and Crescenta Valley High School.
Options to mitigate the impact of a property transfer on the GUSD’s general obligation bond debt that has been issued for Measure K and Measure S are being explored.
The Crescenta Valley High School auditorium is located in the 4400 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta.
March for Meals
The City of Glendale’s Home Delivered Meals Program and Salvation Army’s Meals on Wheels programs are partnering to support the 12th annual March for Meals Campaign. This is Glendale’s first time participating in the month-long event to generate public awareness of senior hunger.
Glendale is organizing local leaders to serve as community champions during the week of March 17-21. Participating in this year’s March for Meals Community Champions Week is Glendale Police Chief Castro along with other city officials, Subaru of Glendale’s general manager, and Tres Hermanas Taqueria. The champions will join March for Meals’ drivers to deliver meals to Glendale’s homebound seniors.
The City of Glendale has provided quality senior services to thousands of community members each year. Glendale’s Home Delivered Meals Program has been serving homebound seniors since 1992 with over 20,000 meals delivered each year.
