Middle School Postpones Open House

Rosemont Middle School has announced that out of an abundance of caution it has made the decision to postpone open house, which was scheduled for tonight, Thursday, March 12. This is in response to the navigation by the school district to the unique and evolving COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) situation. The top priority continues to be the health and safety of its students and staff. The announcement included the belief that the risk to students, faculty and staff remains low, but feels it necessary to be proactive in efforts to encourage social distancing as a means of preventing the spread of illness.

Once current health concerns are resolved a new date for open house will be scheduled. Today, Thursday, and Friday will still be minimum days with student dismissal at 12:37 p.m. There is no banking day since it is a minimum day.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day

The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, March 14 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will be removing invasive, non native plants and cleaning up the trails for upcoming field trips. Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.

Then on Sunday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. there will be an “open gate” event at the Rosemont Preserve. This is a chance for residents to visit the Preserve and wander the trail at their own pace and enjoy the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty. Photographers: bring your camera to capture the morning light and citizen scientists, bring your iNaturalist app to add wildlife sightings!

Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Committee members will be available to answer questions and present this community resource.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those with mobility issues who require a closer parking spot should contact RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
