County Adopts Historic Preservation Ordinance
An ordinance allowing property owners to seek historic designation for their properties, to designate landmarks or to create historic districts in communities, was approved by the board of supervisors.

In 2014, the board of supervisors approved an ordinance that made tax breaks available under the Mills Act, a state law that authorizes cities and counties to provide property tax discounts on condition the savings be used for preservation or maintenance of the historical property.

Official adoption of the ordinance requires an additional vote by the board at a later date.
