CV Youth Town Council
College prep night takes place tonight, Thursday, at La Crescenta Library from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. College experts will be offering a free workshop to show parents how college (any college) can be affordable. Tools will be available to help with filing college applications and attaining grants. The Youth Town Council will receive a donation of $10 for every family that participates.

Everyone is welcomed.

ARS Hosts Winter Wonderland
The Armenian Relief Society of Western USA (ARS) is holding its 3rd Annual Winter Wonderland Feb. 1-2 on the grounds of the St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church.

Attractions include tons of snow, amusement rides, children’s games, live entertainment and food. A children’s talent and fashion show will also entertain guests.

Winter Wonderland hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $3 for a one-day pass and $5 for a two-day pass. Ride and game tickets are sold separately.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the local and international programs of the ARS benefiting individuals, families, and communities most in need.

New CERT Classes to Begin
Crescenta Valley CERT – Community Emergency Response Team – is holding a new session beginning Saturday, Feb. 1 at Crescenta Valley Church with Pastor Scott Woods and Robin Sauls.

The program is an all-risk, all-hazard training designed to help individuals protect themselves, their family and neighborhood in response to a disaster. CERT training includes managing utilities and putting out small fires; treating three medical killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding and treating for shock; providing basic medical aid; searching for and rescuing victims safely; plus more.

The course is conducted over five sessions; all classes must be attended to receive a course certificate. The first class is on Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by classes from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and ending on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
