VCA and FNGH to Meet Tonight
Please join the Crescenta Valley Community Association for its first meeting of the year tonight, Thursday. at 7 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library. The meeting will include discussions on land use as well updates from community leaders. Far North Glendale Homeowners will hold their annual meeting from 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. before the CVCA meeting.

County Proclaims Local Emergency in Colby Fire
On a motion by Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Gloria Molina, the board of supervisors unanimously ratified a proclamation of a local state of emergency resulting from the Colby Fire that began on Jan. 16. It has burned approximately 1,900 acres, destroyed five homes and damaged seven others.
A copy of the proclamation will be forwarded to the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services seeking a state proclamation under the California Disaster Assistance Act.
‘KNX On Your Corner’ coming to cv
“KNX on Your Corner” will take an in-depth look at the unique aspects of the Crescenta Valley on Friday, Jan. 31 as part of KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO’s exclusive, year-round coverage of Southern California’s diverse regions.
KNX’s programming will focus on the group of communities lying between the San Gabriel Mountains and the Verdugo Mountains: La Crescenta, Montrose, La Cañada, Flintridge, Sunland and Tujunga. Featured on-air guests throughout the day will include local civic and business leaders including CV Weekly publisher Robin Goldsworthy who will be on the “Business Hour” program with Frank Mottek.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING MEETINGS PLANNED
The Community Development Department’s Housing Division will host three informational meetings about affordable housing in Glendale. A presentation will be made by Housing Division staff followed by a question and answer session with community members. The meetings will address how to qualify for affordable housing, future affordable housing projects/opportunities, and the Section 8 waiting list.
All three meetings will be conducted in English, Armenian, and Spanish and will have translated brochures and informational packets. Free childcare and light refreshments will be provided.
Note that these meetings are informational only; they are intended to answer frequently asked questions and educate community members on future opportunities. Currently, there are no openings on the Section 8 Program wait list, nor are there Affordable Housing applications available.
Meetings are being held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 27 at Cerritos Elementary School at 120 E. Cerritos Ave., Jan. 30 at the Pacific Community Center at 501 S. Pacific Ave. and Feb. 3 at the Adult Recreation Center at 201 E. Colorado Blvd.
