On Thursday, Dec. 31 at approximately 9:20 a.m., an officer on patrol was driving through the open parking lot of a business on the 5000 block of San Fernando Road and noticed a male, later identified as 43-year-old Caesar Cunanan of Los Angeles, seated in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle in the lot. The officer noticed the vehicle’s registration was expired as of April 2020. A further records check revealed the owner of the vehicle (Cunanan) had an outstanding felony arrest warrant out of Los Angeles County along with another warrant out of San Bernardino County.

The officer contacted Cunanan regarding the vehicle’s expired registration. Cunanan identified himself with another name and provided the officer with a fake California driver’s license. The officer confronted Cunanan about the fake driver’s license and asked for another form of ID at which point Cunanan provided a fake Social Security card with this same false name on it.

During a search of Cunanan’s vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun along with an additional loaded magazine for the gun, numerous fraudulent and stolen Employment Development Dept. (EDD) documents, identity profiles for other people (including names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, etc.), along with stolen and fraudulent credit cards.

Cunanan was arrested and booked for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, forgery and identity theft along with his outstanding warrants.
