Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
Start out the New Year with some fresh air and community cheer! The next Rosemont Preserve restoration day is Saturday, Jan 11 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help restore the natural habitat at the Rosemont Preserve. Work will be done on the southern slope of the preserve – planting is about ready on one section. There will also be hosting a Girl Scout troop on site that will be given a guided tour.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Those who have a shovel, spade, loppers or clippers, please bring them along. Other tools will be available.
The Rosemont Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta.
This event is free to the public, all ages, no reservations required.

Seal to be Corrected
A motion by Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Don Knabe to fix the inaccurate architectural depiction of the San Gabriel Mission currently on the Los Angeles County seal was approved on a 3-2 vote with Supervisors Antonovich, Knabe and Ridley-Thomas voting in favor and Yaroslavsky and Molina opposed.
At the time that the seal was redesigned in 2004, the cross had been removed from the top of the Mission since 1989 when it was taken down to retrofit the structure after damage from the Whittier Narrows earthquake. The cross was subsequently returned to the top of the mission in 2009.
The supervisors said that the seal was inaccurate in its depiction of the San Gabriel Mission and wanted to correct that inaccuracy.
