The La Cañada Presbyterian Church’s (LCPC’s) Parent Education Program recently donated 10% of its fundraising proceeds, $4,312 in total, to local charities Harambee Christian Family Center and Elizabeth House. Harambee Christian Family Center emphasizes Christian education, affordable housing and employment opportunities through programs including after school programs, internships, preschool-sixth grade school, summer day camp and a community garden. Elizabeth House provides shelter and support to homeless pregnant women and their children in Pasadena. Proceeds were raised through the annual LCPC Parent Ed Gala event in February and by sales of Wild Hope ornaments.

Parent Ed’s additional fundraising and outreach efforts this year have included $3,800 raised for participant scholarships through the Founders’ Fund, named in honor of Parent Ed founders Annie Latte Krach, Gail Hanson and Claudia Zentmyer. In December, the program also participated in Operation Christmas Child collecting around 300 boxes to be distributed internationally. And in October, they hosted the documentary “Screenagers” that was available to members of the local community.

Parent Ed will begin its 39th year in September. Classes are offered for children from newborn up to age 18.
