Pat Chambers Retires After 28 Years at La Crescenta Presbyterian Center for Children

After 28 years of leadership, Pat Chambers is retiring as director of the La Crescenta Presbyterian Center for Children (CFC). Known for her compassion and vision, Chambers helped grow the Center into a vital resource for children from infancy through sixth grade, including after-school care from seven local schools.

Under her leadership, CFC expanded its license to serve children up to age 14 and added facilities to meet increasing demand. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Chambers reopened the Center within a month to serve children of first responders, helping it grow from just five children to over 130 daily.

Chambers’ journey began as a teen working at the Center’s after-school program. A graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University, she went on to teach and direct programs across Southern California. She locally introduced the Love and Logic parenting course and led the Church Related Early Childhood Education Fellowship (CRECEF), in addition to presenting at national conferences and advocating for children’s legislation.

She currently serves as vice moderator of the San Fernando Presbytery and is set to become moderator in 2026.

“Pat has been the heart of the Center,” a colleague shared. “Her impact will be felt for generations.”

New director Arpy Jahjah will continue CFC’s mission. A celebration honoring Chambers will take place during worship on Sunday, June 29 at 10 a.m., followed by a lunch at 11:30.
