‘HERMAN’S HOUSE’ SCREENING
RAPP (Read and Practice Peacemaking) at the Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church is screening another film for its Friday Night Lights of Justice series. “Herman’s House” will be shown on June 13. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the film begins at 7:30 p.m.

“Herman’s House” is the story of an inmate kept in solitary confinement for over 40 years. Jackie Sumell is an artist who began a conversation with him that developed into a 12-year friendship. She built a model of his “dream house” which has since been seen in museums and gallery exhibits. The project drew attention to the issue of solitary confinement and RAPP members are hoping that this screening will also increase awareness to the cruel and unjust practice.

The screening coincides with Torture Awareness month and letters will be available to sign that urge elected representatives to support the Solitary Confinement and Reform Act.

The film includes coarse language and references to prior work created to offend.

There is no charge to attend.

CV United Methodist Church is located at 2700 Montrose Ave. in La Crescenta.
