I’m Michael Bridges. When attending Crescenta Valley High, Class of ’67, my elective was drama and I participated in all of the school plays. At UCLA, I did dramatic readings: actors sitting on tall stools in black turtlenecks narrating a script – very cool and hip. When my kids were young, I loved reading their bedtime stories further honing my vocal skills. Later, I took voiceover classes and even booked a few gigs – for Nickelodeon and a show called “The Scariest Places on Earth.” But my fondness for food and shelter always kept my voice acting aspirations on hold. 

Now comfortably retired, I’m taking another shot, this time narrating audiobooks, the fastest growing segment in publishing. This past Feb. 15, I launched my website: www.bridgesvoiceproductions.com and posted my profile on ACX, the division of Audible.com that matches authors with narrators. To date, I’ve completed six audiobooks with two more in production.

When a new release goes on sale on Audible.com, ACX gives the author and narrator promo codes to distribute to family, friends, social media followers, etc. These codes give a recipient with an Audible account free access to the audiobook title for which the code was issued. The hope is the recipient listens to the audiobook, enjoys the story and/or performance and writes a positive review online, which helps boost sales.

I’m seeking CV Weekly readers who are Audible.com subscribers who might enjoy previewing my new audiobook releases for free and writing a brief, honest review of the author’s story and/or the narrator’s performance to help guide your fellow listeners.

Today, I am highlighting Healers, A Novel by Brooke Reynolds, a fantasy/adventure set in purgatory. There is sex, violence and evil soul-stealing “shades.” It also features a sprinkling of humor from a trash-talking canine spirit guide and heartfelt themes of friendship, forgiveness and redemption.
