Christmas Happenings Around CV
There’s a lot going on in the “merry” month of December at the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. There will be a chance to “mingle” at the tri chamber mixer being held at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Joining us will be the Montrose-Verdugo City and Sunland-Tujunga chambers. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the cost to attend is an unwrapped $15 toy. But if you have no time to shop, cash will get you in. There are many requests for toys this year. Also collecting is the Early Rodders (along with other community organizations) and on Dec. 15 is the Crescenta Valley Sheriff Station toy and food drive.
The new medians along Foothill Boulevard have been officially dedicated by our supervisor Kathryn Barger, and the Christmas tree at the library has been decorated and lit. Since La Crescenta has its own reindeer running around, you might see them show up. We have always been a welcoming community, so a couple of cute baby bears might want to be included; they like trees.
In January, the chamber will be installing new officers and directors along with recognizing those going out of office. We thank Calvin “Kaipo” Chock for his years of leadership as president of the CV Chamber as well as Michael Riley as honorary mayor. Our vice president Dwight Sityar is taking some time off, and we will say goodbye to Jeero Hasbeshian. In the transition, Michael Riley will be installed as president and Keith Hobbs as the new honorary mayor. Mike Baldwin will be stepping into the role as the new vice president. We’re keeping all the rest of our board. The luncheon will be held at the Oakmont Country Club, 3100 Country Club Drive, and will include the distribution of eight Pinola/Chamber Education Fund grants.
Special thanks to Camille Levee as we welcome our newest member, Wellness Works. Wellness Works has been providing services in the community for more than 30 years and serves veterans and active military members and their families. Wellness Works is located at 540 W. Broadway, Glendale. Give them a call at (818) 247-2062. We can’t do enough for our veterans!
There is a lot going on, so call our office and we can give you more Santa places to attend. The chamber office will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 so our Executive Director Matt can spend “the most wonderful time of the year” with his family.
