Our Strength is in Our Differences
What a year we have experienced and what a week it has been! So many differences of opinions and big feelings. We think Nelson Mandela said it best: “Our differences are our strength as a species and as a world community.” We know it can sometimes be difficult to embrace different perspectives and values but one perspective worth celebrating is that though we may not all always agree, Montrose will always unite at the end of the day (or week in this case). We look forward to seeing our community shopping around Montrose and at our upcoming virtual events – differences and all!
Chamber Updates
A warm welcome to our newest members: The Campbell Center, Sage Glendale Senior Living, Law Office of Pabst and Staveley, and Descanso Dental Group!
Congratulations to Silky Skin on reopening – only this time in its new space on Honolulu Avenue! Contact Silky Skin to book your customized facial or to purchase a gift certificate for those holiday stockings!
A special thank you to the CEO of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Keith Hobbs for giving us some insight into his Montrose upbringing, offering flu and COVID-19 tips, and advice to our local youth about the importance of your mindset. For those who missed it, visit our website or Facebook to view the Q&A.
Thank you to the City of Glendale for providing us with free PPE (hand sanitizer) to distribute to our residents and businesses. We had a successful drive-thru distribution event at Glendale Areas School Credit Union. We still have a few more gallons left; for anyone interested in getting more just reach out to the chamber office via email or social media.
The chamber has partnered with the YMCA of the Foothills and USC Verdugo Hills Hospital for a “gratitude food drive.” Our hope is to provide as many Thanksgiving meals as possible to local families. Drop off non-perishables, potatoes, boxes of stuffing, cornbread mix, etc., at the
Crescenta-Cañada YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada until Nov. 18 or get in touch with us to pick it up from you!
Our GoFundMe is still active for anyone who has the means to support our efforts. We have partnered with our chamber member, Panos Productions Photography, to gift a corporate headshot (valued at $175) to our next donor of any amount. Also, the next two donors will receive a mask-chain gift courtesy of local jeweler, An Old Soul Jewelry. Visit our website for the GoFundMe link.
Lastly, there are many different chamber opportunities and ways you can get involved. Anyone interested in joining the chamber can reach out to us for more information. We would love to host your virtual ribbon cutting ceremony and help promote you on our social media plus e-blasts. There are also sponsorships available for our upcoming webinars (as low as $25 because we know times have been tough). Get in contact with us for more information.
Stay safe, be well and keep supporting local businesses (if Amazon has it, one of our shops does, too, just let us know what item you are seeking and we can advise you of the shop that has it)!
