Recognizing those who help

“After the verb ‘to Love,’ ‘to Help’ is the most beautiful verb in the world.”

The Station Fire is finally out, sandbags are filled and K-rails are in place. Have you wondered about how you could thank some of the people that were instrumental in ‘helping’ our community for all of the hard work and hours that were volunteered?  Have you been watching the new La Crescenta Library being built and wondered whom to thank for it being so beautiful? Do you know the people that are at many community events volunteering their time ‘to help’ in every way needed?

On Thursday, Nov. 5 we will be honoring individuals who continuously use this verb: ‘to Help.’ Please join us at a banquet to be held at the Angeles National Golf Club at 9401 Foothill Blvd. in Sunland to honor these upstanding individuals. Call the Chamber office by Oct. 28 to reserve your spot at the banquet. Dinner cost is $40 per person and you may also sponsor another dinner or table to help pay the costs for the award recipients who are attending at no charge. This is a great way to thank the people that ‘help’ our community. Also available are advertisements in the program, which is another great way to say thank you.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11 the Crescenta Valley Chamber is also going to give back to those that have ‘helped.’ The second annual “Taste in the Foothills” will take place on Veterans Day, Nov. 11 at the MarketPlace Shopping Center (Ralphs) with a portion of the proceeds going to the Veterans War Memorial at Two Strike Park. Enjoy ‘tastes’ from over 17 area restaurants all in one location at 2629 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta. For only $15 you can sample great restaurants such as Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, Berolina Bakery, Damon’s Steakhouse, Dominick’s Italian Restaurant, Dominos Pizza, Dream Dinners, Frank’s Famous Kitchen & Catering, New Moon, Schreiner’s Fine Sausages, Senior Nacho, Starbucks, Tortas Mexico, Trader Joe’s, Ralph’s Fresh Fare and Togo’s Baskin Robbins. The more people who join us at the event, the more we can give to the veterans for all they have done ‘to help’ our country. Tell your friends to come and ‘taste’ with us.

And don’t forget to come and ‘help’ this Saturday at the annual Foothill Community Clean Up Day. Join the crew at Dunsmore Park at 9 a.m., where teams will be filled to pick a part of the Crescenta Valley and go and clean it up.  It is Glendale’s official ‘Make a Difference Day.” Please register at www.cleanupglendale.org and join us this day to make a difference or make sure to thank those that do ‘help’.
