Oktoberfest Fun and Somber Goodbye

As we prepare for our 42nd Annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 5, planning comes simultaneously with some melancholy and much excitement. Our melancholy is in saying good-bye to our office support staffer Diane Pirkl.

If you have worked with the office or attended a mixer or an event, you will have been met by the smile of Diane. She would have greeted you and assisted you as you entered into our events.

For the last two years, Diane has been support to the entire organization and the community as a MVCC staffer. She assisted in the transition from the previous staff to the “new” one we have diligently worked to bring to the community. She has worked each of our events, mixers and ribbon cuttings, bringing along her smile, enthusiasm and joy. We have benefited greatly from her care to show up and do a top notch job. The 42nd Annual Oktoberfest will be the last event of Diane’s tenure with the MVCC.

Diane has been working with the office to bring in the next generation. To our great luck we will have a local young woman coming in to fill the position that opened with Diane’s leaving. The Montrose~Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome Mavil Aghadjanian.

Mavil comes with a fresh look at how we can step up our game here at MVCC. She has already attended, worked and learned how to represent the chamber at our September mixers and ribbon cutting, as well as at the Foothills Area Business Expo. She has worked on our social media accounts, answered questions via social media, and is already a supportive addition to our office. Mavil grew up here in La Crescenta, is an alumna of CVHS, and has started her own family here in our community. She knows the importance and meaning of “support local.”

As the executive director of the MVCC, I could not be more pleased that Mavil is joining our team. She cares for our community and she has a stake in it, as most of us do, as she is a mother with young children growing and flourishing here. When I asked Mavil why she chose to accept the job offer, her reply was the validation as to why we offered her the position: “Contributing to the MVCC is a dream come true. It has all come back full circle where I can now apply my passion for business and government to my hometown that gave me so much growing up. A thriving community listens to their members and I intend on being the voice for my generation that is just starting families in our beloved Montrose.”

We know that when you meet her, you too will know why she is here to support the MVCC. Look for Mavil this Saturday at the Oktoberfest. She is jumping in and ready to go!

Lastly, I would like to take the opportunity to personally thank Diane for the two years she worked by my side in the office. Through all that we faced as we were re-establishing the office, she was a reliable and trusting person for me to turn to, a person I could rely upon to do a good, honest and diligent job and allow me the confidence that it would get done. Thank you, dear friend, for being a co-worker on top of it all.

Job well done!
