Chamber (and Everyone Else) is Heating Up

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce is looking ahead to a fall that will (hopefully) be cooler but equally busy. But first, let’s recap how August went.

On Aug. 13, the CV Chamber had a mixer at Faced in La Crescenta at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue. Two speakers made presentations at the mixer: Kira Antuna, who owns Faced (https://www.bykna.com/) and is also a member of the CV Chamber board of directors, spoke about the value of taking care of your skin. With her was Dr. Mark Anthony (https://www.lacrescentachiropractor.com/), who spoke on holistic wellness and longevity. It was a fascinating evening and we appreciate them donating their time.

On Aug. 26 we had our monthly social hour, which was held at John Sparr Tavern in Glendale/Montrose (Sparr Heights). We saw some familiar faces and met some new friends! The food was delicious and the company interesting. 

Social hours are designed to be an informal way for folks to meet, talk and share their business and residential ideas. They’re held in the Montrose area to support local businesses. Come to our next social hour, planned at Thee Elbow Room, 2418 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. The social hour is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Looking ahead, on Sept. 11 the Chamber will be co-hosting with the Early Rodders the annual Patriot Day Motorcade. The motorcade travels by our local sheriff’s station on Briggs Avenue, then past several schools and fire stations. It’s an opportunity to remember those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001 while thanking those who fight local wild fires. It’s a solemn occasion; local residents and businesses are asked to come out and acknowledge the motorcade when it passes by. Planning for the future, keep Oct. 17 open when the CV Chamber hosts Waffles & Mimosas at Sadler Hall on the campus of St. Luke’s of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. It’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a nominal fee, you’ll enjoy (what else?) waffles & mimosas!

On Oct. 18, the CV and Montrose-Verdugo City chambers are having a joint ribbon cutting for i9 Sports. It’s at 10 a.m. and will help the iconic company kick off its fall season. 

Then on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m., the CV Chamber is hosting the screening of “Coroner to the Stars – the Thomas Noguchi Story.” It is also being held at St. Luke’s of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. Our special guest will be Vidal Herrera of 1-800-Autopsy, a private pathology service and new member of the CV Chamber of Commerce. For non-Chamber members the cost is $5; for members, it is a free event!
