Oktoberfest 2014

The 37th Annual Oktoberfest is around the corner and the countdown has begun! Please join us from noon on Saturday, Oct. 4 to help us kick off the Oktoberfest celebration! We expanded the event last year and it was a great success. The event will once again extend from Montrose Pet Hospital at 2444 Honolulu Ave.  down to Market Street. We are bringing back all of the activities you have come to know and love like our hot dog eating contest, best dressed dog contest, stein holding contest, Lil Miss and Master contest, Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest, the D’Oberlander German Dancers and the Southern California German American Brass Band. We promise this year to add more German music to all of our stages and more traditional Oktoberfest songs on each stage like the “Chicken Dance” and “Roll Out the Barrel.” We will be expanding our kids area with new rides being brought in, adding a kids food booth run by the Glendale Fire Dept. and more local youth bands on the Montrose Pet Hospital stage. The firefighter dunk tank will be back along with other activities from the fire department. Each one of our four stages will be having contests throughout the day.

We will also be bringing back authentic German beer. On tap will be Spaten Lager, Spaten Okto, and Franziskaner Weis. Of course we will also have Budweiser, Bud Light and Shock Top.

Oktoberfest has been in Montrose for 37 years now and has become a family tradition. This is an event that the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce puts on not only for the community but also to bring people into the area who are not familiar with the wonderful town of Montrose. So please come out and support the Chamber and all the local business in Montrose.

Our Oktoberfest celebration begins Wednesday, Oct. 1 with our Oktoberfest kickoff mixer at Citibank in Montrose. There will be bratwurst provided by Schreiner’s Fine Sausages, Samuel Adams® Oktoberfest Beer provide by SIG Property Management, desserts by Porto’s and traditional Bavarian music. There will be a special mixer prize for the best Oktoberfest outfit. So come in your best lederhosen or Bavarian attire and join the party! Log onto www.montroseoktoberfest.com for more information.

Our September business mixer will be hosted by Montrose Chamber board member Scott Trulik of Ocean View Investments Group. He is celebrating his 10-year anniversary here in Montrose and wants to celebrate. Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 4 from noon to 11 p.m. in the 2200, 2300 & 2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue in Montrose.
