An Event to Please the Palate and Excite the Ears

A Perfect Pairing exemplifies that collaborative intention we have set for 2018 and the future.

On Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Montrose~Verdugo Chamber of Commerce has adjusted the traditional “mixer” and instead offers a collaborative event. A wine pairing will be hosted by Joesph Tahanian, the owner of The Wine Cave, at 2427 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. The Wine Cave is a wine/bar/lounge that offers wine selections, wine tastings, events and live music performances.

Joseph has chosen a selection of wines for Aug. 1 for which he will provide information. He will educate attendees as to the nuances of each wine. Each attendee will taste that selection along with a sample of food provided by one of our local restaurants. The restaurant owner will also share the reasoning behind each pairing and provide info on their particular restaurant. This gives everyone a chance to learn from the local restaurants what they have to offer while enjoying the tasty sampling.

We are pleased to have Rest Farmhouse Inspired offering a sampling. Rest Farmhouse, located 2420 Honolulu Ave., is also a collaborative business. As its website states: “Rest Farmhouse Inspired is what happens when best friends decide to open a restaurant! Serving local, organic, gluten-free, farm-to-table food and butter coffees in a beautiful cafe.” The culinary team consists of owners Kristina Evans and Theresa Rosette, and includes Keith Lake.

Trattoria Allegria will bring its special Italian offerings to the evening. It is located at 3600 Ocean View Blvd. #12. Trattoria Allegria offers authentic Italian cuisine. Whether you dine at its location or you order take-out, you will enjoy the fine ingredients they use, and they feel they serve you a meal that “will surely satisfy your cravings.”

A special note of thanks to Giuseppe’s Montrose, 2428 Honolulu Ave., that served as the inspiration for this pairing. Aside from this event, Giuseppe’s Montrose collaborates with The Wine Cave, which is located right across the street, to provide their customers food service while enjoying all that The Wine Cave offers. Giuseppe’s Montrose offers Italian family-style dining, pizza and sandwiches and serves lunch, dinner and drinks. Walk-ins are always welcome. This is also a great spot for groups and kids, with wait service and outdoor seating. It also offers take-out and catering.

Each of the attendees of A Perfect Pairing will receive a tasting glass with their ticket purchase. Joss Rodgers at Foothill Trophy & Engraving, 2066 Montrose Ave. has specially etched these tasting glasses. Foothill Trophy & Engraving offers quality design, engraving, custom awards and fabrication.

The evening will also include music from Sojourn, a local musical group playing acoustic alternative music. Artists include Kriste Messal (guitar/vocals), Erik Messal (guitar/vocals), Lee Hulseus, (harmonica) and Kathi Chaplar (keyboard/vocals).

The evening will wrap up with a tasting of the new Caffedisiac from Food Alchemy Papua Coffee. Caffedisiac is made from pure Food Alchemy Papua Coffee combined with a potent blend of herbal extracts. Not only great tasting, Papua Coffee is also alkalizing, detoxifying and delicious; it is also Rain-forest Alliance Certified. We are pleased that new member Food Alchemy Papua Coffee has jumped right into the mix and is sharing its healthy product for all of us to enjoy.
