Where There’s a Need, There’s a Lion

Whenever members of a Lions Club get together, problems get smaller and communities get better. That’s because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.

Our 46,000 clubs and 1.4-plus million members make us the world’s largest service club organization. We’re also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities – with children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet. Lions Club International works to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs.

The Crescenta-Cañada Lions Club was chartered in 1948 and we are celebrating 70 years in service to our community. Our annual projects include:

– Kases For Kids that collects and assembles rolling carry-ons/backpacks, toiletries, hygiene items, and school supplies for foster kids who are often on the move. Without these bags, they usually are given plastic trash bags to move their belongings.

– The Fire House, a local organization we have supported since its inception.

– Scholarship awards for local high school graduates. We award $500 to $1000 per student and usually award six students.

– Student speaker contests, which start at our local club and continuing winners can have an opportunity to go to the state competition.

– The Prom Plus scholarship award which goes to a graduating senior who served Prom Plus throughout high school.

– Free eye screenings at various community events including the Hometown Country Fair, the Pasadena Community Health Fair, and the CV Town Council Pancake Breakfast.

We are grateful to our previous club members for 70 years of service, and look forward to carrying their legacy forward. We will continue our work and serve the Crescenta-Cañada community, and beyond, with integrity and energy.

Love & Peace,
