Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting at DIGGS in Montrose

Another new business is opening in Montrose and we want to invite you to join us for a ribbon cutting on June 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at DIGGS in Montrose. DIGGS is a residential real estate company that is a division of Dilbeck Real Estate RealLiving. DIGGS occupies the newly renovated space at 3819 Ocean View Blvd., north of Honolulu Avenue. Its founder and division chief is Kendyl Young, a 27-year veteran of the real estate industry, named to Inman’s 2013 100 Most Influential in the Real Estate Industry, and contributing author to the “Swanepole Technology Report” and “Real: a Path to Passion, Purpose and Profits in Real Estate.” He’s also a popular speaker at real estate and social media conferences.

So what is DIGGS? Here is what owner Kendyl Young had to say: “One of my funnier friends said, ‘What is DIGGS? Is it an acronym? Someone’s name? I don’t get it!’ DIGGS is a play on the 1950s slang for someone’s home, as in, ‘Wow. You’ve got some cool digs, man!’ It is also a positive adjective or verb, as in, ‘I totally dig it!’ The name feels playful, bold and cool – just like me. And, I have to admit, the opportunity for endless puns is certainly part of the appeal…”

Why didn’t he name it Kendyl Young Real Estate? “Because that is so not cool, so not playful. Also, the foundation of my idea is that my brand is not about me. It is about my clients and for my clients.”

What’s so different about DIGGS? “This is the hard part to articulate. The real estate industry is filled with well meaning, hardworking individuals giving their authentic best for the good of their clients. Unfortunately these ‘good guys’ are untrained, unskilled and inexperienced. The best efforts of these ‘good guys’ does little to streamline the process or solve problems. There are a handful of truly great realtors out there – I like to think I am one of them. These realtors are experienced and unpressured to ‘make a deal.’ They have no interest in being the huge name on the block, but they often enjoy large business volume. Each deal is a personal commitment to the family they represent, and the priority is to keep chaos and drama to a minimum while achieving the desired goal – the purchase or sale of a great house.

“DIGGS is also committed to the community. Our space is an open, collaborative space that features the work of our local artists, one at a time. One hundred percent of the DIGGS profit from the sale of this art will go back to local non-profit organizations. DIGGS is committed to excellence. Our motto: ‘Good enough … isn’t!’”

Remember to join us for our July “anniversary” business mixer on Wednesday July 2 hosted by the Angelus National Golf Club in Sunland in their famous Agave Bar and Grill.
