Celebrating the Past and Looking to the Future
On May 22, the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Shining Star Adult Health Care in Eagle Rock. What a phenomenal event! The chamber board members who attended were treated to a red carpet event – no joke! A red carpet was laid out for us to walk on as we were introduced to the group. We weren’t the only “celebrities” either; Baydsar Thomasian, district representative for Sen. Maria Elena Durazo (28th senate district) was also given celebrity status!
Before we walked the red carpet, we were given a tour of the huge facility. Among the many features it boasts, Shining Star Adult Health Care has important people on-site to serve its guests. For example, there’s a registered nurse, social worker and dietician available plus Shining Star Adult Health Care offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Perhaps most deliciously, Shining Star Adult Health Care provides breakfast and lunch (we were treated to lunch – stuffed green peppers) plus there was a cake celebrating the ribbon cutting – which was delicious!
A singer sang some fun songs, too, which encouraged the crowd (including one of our board members) to get up and dance! All in all, a successful ribbon cutting! We’re proud to call Shining Star Adult Health Care a member of the CV Chamber of Commerce.

On May 27, the chamber’s social hour was held at Joselito’s in Montrose. Board member Kira Antuna and I welcomed some community members and we enjoyed some of Joselito’s delicious food. I hope to see some more members at our June social hour at Thee Elbow Room, 2418 Honolulu Ave. We’ll be getting together at 6 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month – June 24.
Looking ahead, the Chamber is having a joint ribbon cutting with the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber on June 12 at 3 p.m. celebrating the one-year anniversary of Sabrina’s Pizzeria Napoletana at 2200 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. Small bites will be offered, drinks will be available and it’s free to attend!
Then on June 13 at Albertsons, 6240 Foothill Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. classic cars will be on display. Stop by and check them out! It’s a good time to sign up as a Chamber member, too!
A special thank you is extended to Steve Pierce, who has been overseeing the increase in the Chamber membership. We welcome:
