NEWS FROM THE CV CHAMBER

Community Spirit Wasn’t Dampened

On Saturday, April 26 the CV Chamber of Commerce held its annual Hometown Country Fair at CV Park. Despite the rainy weather, our vendors, food trucks, “car guys” and entertainment honored their commitments to bring their very best to the Fair.

If you remember, Saturday morning was not only wet but also cold. I was cold to my bones (thankfully Marilyn Wright took care of replacing my damp hoodie and jacket so I warmed up). By early afternoon however the sun started peeking through the clouds and competitors were taking a seat for the pie-eating contest. They were troopers, too! They downed the whipped cream concoction till their plates were empty. Special thanks to Donna Libra and Robert Manciero who made sure all competitors got a prize and to Joe Allen who emceed the contest!

Community members stopped by to learn of the many organizations that either call the Crescenta Valley home and/or serve its residents. We also boasted some of the best vendors offering all types of merchandise.

And the food! From kettle corn to gooey grilled cheese, there was something for everyone.

I was particularly happy that the Pasadena Humane Society, which had brought some dogs looking for a new home, was able to find permanent residences for their pooches.

By early afternoon the sun started coming out, showcasing all the Fair had to offer.

Kudos to the terrific CV Chamber team that made sure the day went off without a hitch: Kira Antuna, Donna Libra, Robert Manciero, Mary O’Keefe, Steve Pierce and Dwight Sityar (thanks also to Rick and Rich).

Though it started out gloomy the day definitely ended on a bright note!
