Local Restaurant Pairings

Known as the Montrose Craft Beer Fest but, just as importantly, this event has the investment of some of our local restaurants providing food pairings. Experts such as those from Basin 141 and Thee Elbow Room will lead the charge in paring food and craft beer at this April 8 event.

Craft beer reached unprecedented milestone in 2017. For the first time, according to newly released figures from the Brewers Association, the total number of breweries in operation in the U.S. passed 6,000. Though the exact number has yet to be revealed, that’s at least 700 more breweries there were in 2016, and more than double that of just four years ago. With the interest and connoisseurship of craft beer also comes the interest and connoisseurship of complimentary and exciting food pairings. Pair that beer with the right food and the results can change both the food and the beer in ways you could never expect. Beverage directors, chefs, and even wine lovers have learned that beer has an amazing capacity to pair with all kinds of foods. Craft beer is thought to be food-friendly and in being so it encourages the creativity and “investigation” of pairings.

To support this up swing of “Craft Food with Craft Beer” some of our local restaurants have stepped into this event to offer samplings off their menus: Franks’ Famous, Giuseppe’s, New Moon, Pepe’s, Ocean View Bar & Grill and, as mentioned above, Basin 141 and Thee Elbow Room. Along with these are a couple of core establishments: Trader Joe’s and Elmcroft/Mountview.

This year’s event is focusing on interaction and engagement. That includes the interaction and engagement of the attendees with the restaurants, as well as the breweries. We look to this event as either an introduction to those participating or as a reminder of the great restaurants that this community has to offer. And we hope the attendees identify the food samples they were able to enjoy and therefore return to our restaurants again and again as new or continued patrons.

In alignment with the interaction and engagement focus, the MVCC also appreciates the “pairings” of the contributors of this event: Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf-Montrose, MSPA, Montrose Barber Shop, We’re Pouring and CV Weekly.

Supporting the truth in the statement, “It takes a village!” Once again the Montrose~Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce is glad to be apart of and working in collaboration with those of the community.
