Operation Firefly Lights Up Glendale

Smiles lit the faces of cyclists and pedestrians thanks to Operation Firefly. Passersby received free bike lights and educational materials compliments of Walk Bike Glendale (WBG) and reflective bands provided by the City of Glendale. WBG volunteers stood on the corner of Flower Street and Sonora Avenue, giving these away to anyone who completed a short survey.

Operation Firefly is an education and bike light program of the Los Angeles Bicycle Coalition. Its intention is to make sure people riding bikes are riding safely at night. A white front light and reflectors are required by law (CVC21201) on bikes ridden at night in California. More importantly, riding without lights and reflectors is dangerous.

Whether walking, cycling, jogging or skating at night, Walk Bike Glendale wants to remind people to be seen and be alert.
