Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus (VHWC) will be busy the month of December, not only shopping for gifts to place under the Christmas tree, but bringing the gift of music and joy to residents of community homes in Pasadena, La Crescenta, Eagle Rock and Glendale.
Many residents are unable to leave their home and go out to a concert, so VHWC goes to them. Each year the 35-plus women polish up their skills, learn new music and practice, practice, practice. This year is no exception! Ki Park, the new chorus director, has selected a variety of music, some old and some new, to announce the start of the Christmas season.
From the new members of the chorus – Virginia Hatley, Hosanna Jackson, Liza Hirsch Medina, Linda Moore, Lee Clarke, Judy Feddick, June Rim and Debbie Tinkham – have come comments of how much fun it is to be singing again. Many women who sang in high school or college afterwards put their passion for singing on the back burner while raising a family. Now is the time to rediscover music and song and entertain others at the same time. New and old members of VHWC will entertain at Scholl Canyon Estates and Windsor Manor in Glendale, Fair Oaks Regency and Del Mar Park in Pasadena, all home to independent seniors and those in need of assistance with daily living activities.
Rounding out the Christmas season will be performances at Twelve Oaks Senior Living in La Crescenta and Solheim Retirement Community in Eagle Rock.
For information on how to see these performances, contact Arlene Massimino at (818) 409-9209. VHWC always has room for one more singer, so Arlene can answer those questions, too.
