New Kiwanis Club Launches with Bingo

The recently opened Kiwanis Club of the Verdugos kicked off with a bingo game that raised funds for the new club.

Held on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Verdugo Hills Memorial Hall at 4011 La Crescenta Ave., overflow crowd extended beyond the Hall’s main room to the lower area. Patrons paid $20 for a dauber and a book of 40 cards for 10 bingo games. Each game paid $100 in prize except for the final game of the night. The prize was $300 for “blacking out” the entire bingo card. Food and beverages were available for purchase as was the opportunity to purchase cards for additional “bonus games.”

Spearheading the evening were Lou and Miryam Finkelberg who are also overseeing the Kiwanis Club of the Verdugos.

“We are thrilled that our first bingo fundraiser was a success in all counts; we had a great turnout from the community and an amazing support from our members and businesses with over 45 sponsorships. It was a fun and exciting evening with tons of energy in the hall. We were able to raise funds while having so much fun. Thank you to everyone who contributed and participated,” said Miryam.
