Seasoned senior financial healthcare executive Patrick Lash has been named chief financial officer (CFO) of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (USC-VHH), effective Sept. 1. Lash brings more than 30 years of experience to USC-VHH, with expertise in interim management, financial operations, hospital financial systems and revenue cycle processes. Lash served as interim CFO for USC-VHH in February and March of this year.

“We are excited to have Patrick Lash join our senior leadership team, and come back to the Trojan family,” said Paul Craig, interim CEO of USC-VHH. “Patrick’s expertise and years of experience working with large hospital systems, physician medical foundations, health-maintenance organizations and physician-owned companies make him the perfect finance executive for our organization.”

Lash, a certified public accountant, served as an independent consultant for Keck Medicine of USC, managing 20 pre- and post- acquisition projects as the University of Southern California (USC) acquired Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Hospital from Tenet Healthcare in 2009.

The following year, Lash was project director of Keck Medical Center of USC’s financial reporting system installation.

In his new role at USC-VHH, Lash will work with department directors in managing hospital financial services, including accounting, financial reporting, revenue cycle, health information and supply chain. He will also work closely with the USC-VHH governing board, physicians, administration and staff.

“My goal as CFO is to be the financial right hand for the hospital, supporting USC-VHH’s chief executive officer and management team as we navigate a challenging healthcare environment,” said Lash. “Through collaboration, we will continue to provide personalized, high-quality care for our patients.”

Lash holds a Masters in Business Administration degree and a Masters of Science in Business Administration from USC. He has also taught as an adjunct professor in USC’s executive master’s program in health administration.
