Assistance League of Glendale was honored recently at the Assistance League national conference as the organization’s oldest active chapter. ALG celebrated its 70th year of assisting the children of the Glendale Unified School District with uniforms, scholarships and Authors & Illustrators Day, among other things, at all GUSD schools.
ALG members Sally Benson and Danette Erickson journeyed to Chicago for the celebration and to accept the award.
Assistance League accepts donations at its Thrift Store at 314 E. Harvard St. in Glendale. ALG gives back to the community by supporting everything from foster children to senior neighborhood luncheons. The volunteers have given 70 years to the communities of Glendale and La Crescenta and, according to Erickson, were honored to be recognized at the national conference.
