‘Chasing History’ Hosted by Bolton Hall and Little Landers

On July 14 starting at 2:30 p.m., Tujunga’s Bolton Hall Museum and Little Landers Historical Society invite the community to join in on a special event and a fun way to learn more about local history. “Chasing History” is a fund-raiser for Bolton Hall Museum to help the Museum and its volunteers continue providing free historical public programs and exhibits. “Chasing History” is a treasure hunt/car rally/scavenger hunt.

Little Landers Historical Society has identified and created clues for 16 of the most interesting and intriguing foothill historical sites from Lake View Terrace to La Crescenta. Participants will register a vehicle for the event and ask friends and family members to ride along as part of their team. Each team will use the clues provided to find as many of the sites as possible and will take a fun and creative photo at each site then immediately email the photo to Chasing History Central. One or more smartphones in each team is a necessity in order to take and email the photos. Smartphones come in handy for using the internet to help find locations as well.

The clues are grouped by local areas, so teams can choose a community they know well or chase clues that intrigue them most. Of course any team can try to find and visit all of the locations. Teams compete for prizes in finding the most locations and taking the most creative photos.

After the Chase, all teams will get together at 6 p.m. at McGroarty Arts Center for photo prize awards and photo viewing and sharing tales of the day’s adventures. A Mexican dinner, drinks and dessert will be available for purchase.

A vehicle registration fee of $40 includes clues to all 16 locations. For a $75 vehicle registration, actual directions to each location will be provided.

See littlelandershistoricalsociety.org for more information and to register online or visit Bolton Hall Museum during regular hours to sign up. Bolton Hall Museum is open to visitors this summer on Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
