In Montrose, representatives from Glendale City Council, including Mayor Ardy Kassakhian, Congressman Adam Schiff, State Senator Anthony Portantino and Assemblymember Laura Friedman, all spoke at the event that honored those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The Montrose Shopping Park Association, which was a co-sponsor of the event, was represented by its president Andre Ordubegian. Also attending was Montrose Verdugo Chamber of Commerce president Adam Franko. The chamber was a co-sponsor of the event.

The ceremony began with Bobby Kilgore walking across Honolulu Avenue playing bagpipes and ended with Crescenta Valley High School senior Alex Dertavitian playing “Taps.”

At Two Strike Park the American Legion Post 288 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614 hosted a ceremony that included music from the Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus and featured keynote speaker Col. Larry Icenogle.

Each event began with a moment of silence for the victims of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
