More than 600 people attended the Healthcare Foundation at Glendale Adventist Medical Center’s annual fundraising Gala on Sunday, April 27, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. The premier black tie event featured a gourmet dinner, live auction, prestigious awards and entertainment. Some of those in attendance included president and CEO of Glendale Adventist Medical Center Kevin A. Roberts; His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian; Glendale Mayor Zareh Sinanyan; City of Bell Mayor Nestor Enrique Valencia; Glendale City Clerk Ardy Kassakhian; president and CEO of Adventist Health Scott Reiner; Adventist Health/Southern California Network, President Beth Zachary; Southern California Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists President Elder Larry Caviness and producer, director and writer Suzanne De Laurentiis.

“The Glendale community came out in full support of our hospital and our physicians,” said Irene Bourdon, president of the Healthcare Foundation.

As a result, she added, nearly $620,000 was raised.

All proceeds will assist the hospital in enhancing clinical services and programs offered to patients throughout the Glendale area.

Complementing its fund-raising efforts, Glendale Adventist Medical Center celebrated exemplary distinguished philanthropists and leaders who enrich lives every day with their generosity and service to our community. Honorees included: Outstanding Individual Philanthropy – Arsen and Hasmik Danielian, Outstanding Corporate Philanthropy – Leisure Glen Post Acute Care Center, Outstanding Contributions to our Community – Fran Buchanan and Outstanding Physician Philanthropy – ENT Surgical Associates.

“It was a wonderful evening that celebrated our honorees and our mission,” said Bourdon. “These honorees are passionate about healing, passionate about people, and passionate about our community.”

Another highlight of the evening was when actress Morena Baccarin, star of the “Homeland” series on Showtime, presented the first-ever Physician Hero Award to Ronald Wu, MD. Dr. Wu delivered Baccarin’s healthy baby boy, Julius, in October. She expressed her deep gratitude to her “hero” and to the hospital.

“I’m so happy I was able to deliver with Dr. Wu,” said Baccarin. “He gave me the birth experience I wanted.”
