The La Crescenta Woman’s Club (LCWC) received awards this spring for its contributions to the community during the past year in areas such as advocating for children and the environment, civic engagement and outreach, and the club newsletter. The awards were from the San Gabriel Valley District of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs.
Three individual members from LCWC also received special recognition. Besty Mortimer received the LCWC Kindness Angel Award for her diligence working behind the scenes to help the club run smoothly. Mortimer is a beloved member of the club and has a smile that welcomes all.
Denise Napiwocki was recognized as the LCWC Citizen of the Year. Napiwocki is in charge of Ways and Means and leads the club in organizing community fundraising events at the clubhouse, such as bingo, and organizing members to help out at the Montrose Shopping Park Association Wine Walks. She is dedicated to supporting women but also advocates continuously for veterans. She is a member of the local American Legion Auxiliary Post 288 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614, and past-president of both of these local organizations. She has also been a Boy Scout leader and Girl Scout leader and was previously named the Citizen of the Year in Montrose.
LCWC Club Member of the Year was Pam Mosher. As Programs chairperson at LCWC, Mosher brings exciting events to club meetings such as musical performances and programs about local history. The programs are enjoyed by LCWC members and community members. In addition, Mosher has a unique, technical skill set and a background in production, which she has used to upgrade the audio-visual equipment at the clubhouse, making it a desirable rental venue.
