Those who have been to a hospital emergency department recently were probably there for a while. During this time a cellphone is vital to keep loved ones and friends updated. If the phone battery runs out, so does communication, adding stress to an already stressful situation.

The Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals (CAP) is helping. CAP donated six portable cellphone chargers to the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Emergency Dept. as a free service for emergency patients. CAP is an auxiliary of the Assistance League of Flintridge.

CAP members participate in five philanthropic programs: a scholarship program for local students going to community college or another two-year program, Cappy Bears, SPROUTS and CAP Care PACs and also joins ALF on Operation School Bell. Sales from Bargain Box, ALF’s thrift shop, support CAP’s philanthropies.
